It's not entirely ironic that Scotty Cameron would be selling in his Gallery hand-shaped surfboards made by local North County surfing legend Rob Machado. The Gallery location was formerly a local Encinitas surf shop. Scotty completely renovated the shop to build his dream space where he could sell hand-crafted putters and other unique creations -- like surfboards.
As an avid surfboard collector and beach enthusiast, Scotty invited his long-time friend Rob Machado to sell a few one-of-a-kind surfboards in this very non-surf shop in a very surfing town. As Scotty says, golf brings people from all walks of life together.
Recently, SURFER Magazine editor Brendon Thomas and photographer Grant Ellis paid a visit to the Scotty Cameron Gallery to let SURFER readers in on a perhaps-unknown Encinitas secret spot for local, hand-shaped surfboards. The pairing may be unlikely, but don't be surprised if you see these two legends of their respective disciplines out on a local course having the time of their life.
