The Scotty Cameron Putter Studio has been instrumental in the refinement of putters. By getting the facts of putter performance it can be determined if a putter needs more or less toe flow, offset, draft angle, etc. Another important factor in the sound and feel of a putter is the material by which it is made. Scotty experiments with different inserts, different metals, and different finishes. One such metal is German Stainless Steel. It is an expensive metal and costly to mill but the sound and feel is very unique. GSS is a softer material than carbon steel but has a crisp sound at impact. Many notable players use GSS putters like the Newport 2 hand stamped model you see above. Notice the small circle T in the cavity and the single red dot that are unmistakably Tour.
