When Scotty had his own company he had to improvise because he didn't have the budget to run small batches of prototype putters. He would weld and re-position hosels, create more or less face balance, and experiment with the performance of a putter. The slant neck prototype above, made from a Scottydale long neck, is one such example. To give a better view of the ball Scotty removed the elbow in the plumbing neck, slanted the neck and re-welded the socket on top of the hosel. This would give a different view of the ball at setup and the long neck would give the putter more face balance.
